Providence College to Host Discussions on the Nature of Marriage
Providence, R.I. – Providence College today announced that the College will host two events addressing the nature of marriage during the spring semester. The first event, “Haters, Sinners, and the Rest of Us: The Gay Debate Today,” will take place on Thursday, April 24th at 4:30 p.m. in Slavin Center, ’64 Hall, on campus. Dr. John Corvino, chair of the Philosophy Department at Wayne State University in Detriot, Mich., and a nationally recognized proponent of same-sex marriage, will be the featured speaker. Dr. Dana Dillon, assistant professor of theology at PC, will provide the response to Dr. Corvino’s remarks.
The second event, “What is Marriage? Man and Woman: A Defense and Response,” will happen on Wednesday, April 30th at 4:30 p.m. in the Smith Center for the Arts, Angell Blackfriars Theater, on campus. It will feature Sherif Girgis, an Oxford Rhodes Scholar who is a supporter of traditional marriage. Mr. Girgis is a doctoral candidate at Princeton University and a law student at Yale Law School. Dr. Christopher Arroyo, associate professor of philosophy at PC, will provide the response to Mr. Girgis’ remarks.

Providence College Presents Lecture and Colloquium Series on Jewish-Christian Relations
Providence, R.I. – Providence College will host two prominent scholars on Thursday, March 6 and Friday, March 7 for the lecture and colloquium series, Theological Exchange Between Catholics & Jews entitled “Images of God: Jewish and Catholic Perspectives.”

Providence College School of Business Associate Dean Appointed to Prestigious Position at Global Accounting Firm
Providence, R.I. – Dr. Christine Earley, associate dean and professor of accountancy in the Providence College School of Business (PCSB), was recently chosen to serve in a two-year rotating academic fellowship at KPMG, one of the “Big 4” global public accounting firms. She will be taking a professional leave of absence from PCSB and joining KPMG’s Global Services Center (GSC) in Montvale, N.J., beginning in June, 2014.
