Graphics and images created for the web are compressed to be smaller files. Why? Because your website will load faster and unnecessary storage space won't be used. This training course will teach you the basics of optimizing graphics and images for the web so you're sure to give your website visitors the best possible experience as they consume your content. Note: This is a required training session for all bloggers on the Providence College Blog Network
Site Improve is an easy to use, web-based system that scans your individual web sites for spelling errors and broken links, and provides you with an easy to use system to identify where those issues are on your site enabling you to correct them. This training will teach you how to use this software and will walk you through fixing the spelling and broken errors on your site.
Believe it or not, but the current design of the providence.edu website is now almost 3 years old! The process of redesign for the current site started back in 2008, pre-dating widespread mobile web use. Because of the age of this design, it's not optimized for mobile traffic and coupled with the new brand, its time for a new design! To prepare for the redesign and migration to a new platform, we are offering Migration Preparation training for Web Editors. We'll use these hour and 15 minute sessions to show you how to clean up your sites- deleting outdated and unused documents, images and pages - so that your site will be clean and ready to be moved to the new platform.
We have a 9 station computer lab set up, or you can bring your laptop. This is a time where you can work on your web edits and we will be available for questions as needed.
We recognize that in order to get your editing tasks done it will be helpful for you to have a quiet place to work, and the ability to ask questions as they arise.
