Toastmasters International is an organization for public speaking. In PC’s chapter of the internationally recognized club, members develop communication skills and self-confidence among a group of supportive peers. Each meeting begins with members warming up by telling jokes or answering discussion questions. Then, members give speeches based on the topics in the Toastmasters Ten Speech Series. Speakers receive constructive feedback from other members of the group. Once a member has given ten speeches, he or she becomes a “Competent Communicator.”
Toastmasters is a fantastic club for working on public speaking skills, which are absolutely necessary in college and the workforce. Also, employers know what Toastmasters is and will be impressed to see it on a resume.
The club meets on Tuesdays in Slavin Fishbowl at 6 p.m., and our meetings are never longer than an hour, so Toastmasters can fit into any busy schedule! Stop by and start talking!
