Lindsay Adamski is exploring a term in the Peace Corp. She did her junior and senior practicum at the Rhode Island Foster Parents Association, an organization that focuses on providing support, education, and advocacy to children in state care and the families that provide substitute care for children that are unable to live with their parents. Her primary focus was on policy advocacy. Lindsey was a member of Alpha Delta Mu, the Social Work Honor Society.

 

 

Tara Albury is a case manager with Aspire, a Rhode Island Foster Parent Association program for youth who are aging out of state care. Her senior practicum was at the Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) where she worked in the Intake Service Unit. She did her junior practicum at the Rhode Island Council of Resource Providers for Children, Youth, and Families (RICORP) where she was involved with the Chafee Life Skills Center, a program that focuses on teaching youth who are aging out of state care the skills necessary to become self-sufficient and live independently. Tara was a member of Alpha Delta Mu, the Social Work Honor Society.

 

 

Lauren Annicelli is in New York City pursuing an interest in theater. She did her senior practicum in the middle school at Paul Cuffee Charter School. She did her junior practicum at Ocean State Action, a community organizing agency that coordinates community coalitions for public policy advocacy in the areas of economic, social, and environmental justice. Lauren was a member of Alpha Delta Mu, the Social Work Honor Society.

 

 

LeeAnn Byrne is with VISTA in the Providence area. LeeAnn's senior practicum was at the Rhode Island Coalition for the Homeless, an organization that seeks to find comprehensive and cooperative solutions for the homeless through advocacy, education, and selected direct services. She did her junior practicum at the Rhode Island Foster Parents Association, an organization that advocates for children in state care and their care providers. LeeAnn was a member of Alpha Delta Mu, the Social Work Honor Society and is a member of the Providence College Department of Social Work Community Advisory Board.

 

 

Courtney Dillon is attending law school at Quinnipiac. Courtney did her senior practicum at Times 2 where she developed an in-school suspension program and provided supports to students whose behavior was an obstacle to their educational progress. She did her junior practicum at Juvenile Drug Court, a program that works to reduce substance abuse among nonviolent juvenile offenders through support and court supervision, substance abuse treatment programs, and advocacy. Courtney was a member of Alpha Delta Mu, the Social Work Honor Society.

 

 

Shannon Fitzgerald is doing a year with VISTA. She did her senior practicum at the Rhode Island Training School (RITS), a residential facility for youth that have been placed by the Family Court due to waywardness or delinquency. Her junior practicum was at the Rhode Island Council of Resource Providers (RICORP) where she worked in the Chafee Life Skills Program, a initiative that focuses on teaching youth how to become self-sufficient and live independently. Shannon was a member of Alpha Delta Mu, the Social Work Honor Society.

 

 

Audrey Fritton is at Boston College, admitted with advanced-standing status. She did senior practicum is at Tri-Town Community Action where she worked in the Head Start Program, providing services to low income children and families. She did her junior practicum at Family Resources Community Action, in its Specialized Foster care program. Audrey was a member of Alpha Delta Mu, the Social Work Honor Society.

 

 

Elizabeth Gross is entering Boston College with advanced-standing status. She did her senior practicum at Cranston Head Start, an early childhood education program for children in families that fall beneath the poverty level.  Liz did her junior practicum in the Early Childhood Center, Cranston Public Schools. Liz was a member of Alpha Delta Mu, the Social Work Honor Society.  

 

 

Whitney Henderson is attending Boston College with advanced-standing status. Whitney is concentrating on international social work. She did her senior practicum at the National Association of Social Workers-RI Chapter, a social work professional membership and advocacy organization. Whitney was a member of Alpha Delta Mu, the Social Work Honor Society.  

 

 

Jennifer Heinemann achieved advanced-standing status at Boston College School of Social Work. Her program focus will be in the area of Health/Mental Health. Her senior practicum was at Butler Hospital, a psychiatric and substance abuse hospital that provides services for adults, seniors, adolescents, and children. Jenn did her junior practicum at Tides Family Services, an organization that provides services to youth at risk for involvement in the juvenile justice system. Jenn was a member of Alpha Delta Mu, the Social Work Honor Society.

 

 

Nicole Lescarbeau is entering Boston College with advanced-standing status. She did her junior and senior practicums at Family Resources Community Action in the agency’s Family Support Program, providing services to high need families. Nicole was a member of Alpha Delta Mu, the Social Work Honor Society.

 

 

Ashley Margarida is currently working for the Blackstone Valley Community Action Agency as a case manager. Her senior practicum was at the Department of Corrections where she worked in the Adult Probation and Parole. She did her junior practicum at Tri-Town Community Action's Head Start Program, which provides services to the children and parents of the low income families in the eight surrounding cities and towns. Ashley was a member of Alpha Delta Mu, the Social Work Honor Society.

 

 

Maryalice Multari is pursuing a degree in communications. She did her junior and senior practicum at Steere House Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility that provides care to adults who require skilled, restorative, and long-term care.

 

 

Katie Paolella is currently serving as a Loaned Executive for the United Way campaign in Waterbury, CT. She is planning to go to graduate school in the fall of 10. Her senior practicum was at Charles Fortes School in Providence. She did her junior practicum at Big Sisters of Rhode Island, an organization that works to decrease vulnerability and to empower girls to thrive emotionally, socially, and academically. Katie was a member of Alpha Delta Mu, the Social Work Honor Society.

 

 

Kim Pine anticipates graduate studies in social work. Kim's senior practicum was in the Providence Public School Department, where she worked in the Autism Unit. She did her junior practicum at Connecting for Children and Families, an organization that provides education, health, and social services to the children and families in inner-city Woonsocket.

 

 

Kristin Pleines is attending the University of Connecticut School of Social Work, entering with advanced-standing status. She interned her senior year at the Court Appointed Special Advocates Office (CASA), a division of Family Court that advocates for the best interests of children in the care of the Department of Children Youth and Families. She did her junior practicum at Kids Klub, a nonprofit organization that provides therapeutic child care. Kristen was a member of Alpha Delta Mu, the Social Work Honor Society.

 

 

Jackie Salaway anticipates working in the field of social work following graduation. Her senior practicum was at Children's Friend and Service Family Support Center in Central Falls. She was affiliated with the Drop In Center, which offers crisis and short-term supports and information and referral, and with Early Start, a program that provides home-based services and parent support groups to young families. Jackie was fluent in Spanish and was able to provide services to Spanish speaking families in their native language. Jackie was a member of Alpha Delta Mu, the Social Work Honor Society.

 

 

Melanie Sharot achieved advanced-standing at Fordham University, where she will focus on clinical practice. Melanie's senior practicum was with Project Connect at Children's Friend and Service, a program that provides home-based services to families in recovery. Her junior practicum was at St. Anne's Hospital, a Catholic affiliated community hospital that provides a wide range of health care services for the residents of Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Melanie was a member of Alpha Delta Mu, the Social Work Honor Society. She was the recipient of the Professional Promise Award, a recognition awarded annually by the Department of Social to a graduating senior Work anticipates working in the field of social work following graduation.

 

 

Stacey Smith-Israel is attending NYU advanced-standing. She did her senior practicum at The Metropolitan Regional Career and Technical Center (The MET), a progressive, alternative high school with campuses in Providence and Newport. She did her junior practicum in the Boys Shelter at Family Resources Community Action. Stacey was a research assistant to Dr. Kate Kranz.

 

 

Kevin Stanford is attending the University of Connecticut, advanced-standing. He did his junior and senior practicum at Family Resources Community Action in the agency’s specialized foster care program. His article on ethical decision making was published in the New Social Worker (fall 2008). Kevin was a member of Alpha Delta Mu, the Social Work Honor Society.

 

 

Kate Wood anticipates entering the Peace Corp. She did her senior practicum at AIDS Care Ocean State where she is involved with the agency’s prevention program. She did her junior practicum at Juvenile Drug Court, a program that works to reduce substance abuse among nonviolent juvenile offenders through support and court supervision, substance abuse treatment programs, and advocacy. Kate was a member of Alpha Delta Mu, the Social Work Honor Society.
