Class of 2008    

 

Siobhan Brown interned in the Social Services unit at the Rhode Island Office of the Public Defender where she assisted with the assessments of defendants with mental health and substance use issues and connected these individuals with treatment programs in the community, and monitored the status of clients placed into treatment programs.

Lindsey Capaldi enrolled in the MSW program at Rhode island College. Lindsey's senior practicum was at Tri-Town Head Start in Johnston where she served as a Family Advocate.   Her junior practicum was with the Early Intervention Program (EI) at Meeting Street Center , a program that provides services to children (0 to 3) with developmental delays and their families.

Patrick Cassidy served in the Jesuit Volunteer Corp. He did his senior practicum is at the Court Appointed Special Advocates Office (CASA) where he advocated the best interests of children in Family Court proceedings.In his junior year Pat interned at the Hope Alzheimer’s Center, an adult day program for individuals with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers. He was an officer of the Organization of Student Social Workers (OSSW). Pat was a member of Alpha Delta Mu, the Social Work honor society.

Kelsey Creeden did her senior placement with the Rhode Island Foster Parents Association (RIFPA) where she work edon a project that connected youth aging out of state care with mentors. She did her junior practicum at the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth, and Families in the Intake Unit where she assisted with providing services and mobilizing resources for families at risk for abuse and neglect. Kelsey was a member of Alpha Delta Mu, the Social Work honor society.

Bridget Freeman is currently enrolled in the MSW program at Wheelock. She did her junior and senior practicum at the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth, and Families in a Family Service Unit that provided services to families legally indicated for abuse and neglect.

Courtney Hocking enrolled in the MSW program at the University of Connecticut. Courtney's senior practicum was at the Charles Fortes Magnet Academy , a Microsoft public school in Providence , where worked with elementary school age children and their families. She did her junior practicum at the Met School , an innovative high school for high-risk youth, where she designed and led a college transition group for seniors and provided a supportive relationship to individual students around their struggles with relational, family, and personal issues. Courtney was a member of Alpha Delta Mu, the Social Work honor society.

Kiley Morgart did her senior practicum is at Adoption Rhode Island where she worked on recruitment initiatives, helped ready children for adoption, and provided support to adoptive families. Her junior internship was at a Gateway Healthcare in a residential treatment program for adolescent girls with severe emotional and behavioral problems.

Caitrin O’Rourke enrolled in the MSW program at Rhode Island College. Caitrin did her senior practicum at Highlander Charter School in Providence where she worked with elementary age children. She did her junior practicum at the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth, and Families in the Intake Unit where she assisted with providing services and mobilizing resources for families at risk for abuse and neglect. Caitrin was a member of Alpha Delta Mu, the Social Work honor society.

Maria Palladini did both her junior and senior practicum at the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth, and Families in the Intake Unit where she assisted with providing services and mobilizing resources for families at risk for abuse and neglect.

Ian Parker enrolled in the MSW program at the University of Connecticut. Ian did his senior practicum at Family Services, providing services to individuals with HIV/AIDS and their families. His junior practicum was at Amos House, a service and support program for homeless individuals.  Ian was a member of Alpha Delta Mu, the Social Work honor society.

Sara Pateras did both her junior and senior practicum at Big Sisters of Rhode Island, a mentoring organization for girls. Sara was the 07-08 President of the Organization of Student Social Workers.

Stephanie Sullivan enrolled in the MSW program at NYU. Stephanie did her senior practicum is at the Court Appointed Special Advocates Office (CASA) where she advocated the best interests of children in Family Court proceedings.She did her junior practicum at Tri-Town Early Head Start where she provided home-based services to children ages 1-3 and their families.

Kayte Terbush enrolled in the MSW  program at the University of Connecticut. Kayte did both her junior and senior internship with the Home-Based Treatment Services program (HBTS) at Tides Family Services. H BTS provides intensive services to children at risk in order to prevent placement outside the home—residential, hospitalization, and/or the Rhode Island Training School . Kayte was a member of Alpha Delta Mu, the Social Work honor society.

Kristen Wroblewski did both her junior and senior practicum at the Vi M Berard School, a K-12 therapeutic school program, where she provided one-on-one support to individual students around peer, family and school related issues, participated in clinical meetings, and worked with middle school  youth on social skills development.
