Horizons Retreat

Student Multicultural Activities Office
Slavin Center 106C

Mentee Registration

Deadline: September 5, 2014, Friday

What is Horizons? It includes a weekend retreat and year long informal mentoring for first year and transfer students of color and international students to build new friendships, to hear from upperclass students, to experience intentional intercltural interaction, and to learn about resources on campus. Retreat leaders and mentors called "Red Robins" will share their personal experiences about the blessings and challenges in their transition to campus. During the retreat, students will develop a sense of community through various ice-breakers and team-building activities. These activities will center on leadership, advancement, networking, and resource building.

This dates of the retreat are Sept 20-21, Sat-Sun and will be at Camp Canonicus, in Exeter, Rhode Island, which is about 35 minutes from campus. All transportation, meals and housing will be provided. There is a $10 refundable fee, which is due when students arrive on campus. It is first come, first serve so we will be accepting the first 35 students who register.

Goals:

  • Strengthening the transition of first year students at Providence College.
  • Fostering relationships amongst students by embracing and honoring differences.
  • Equipping students with resources to integrate into the campus with resilience, faith and hope.
  • Connecting students to resources on campus through upperclass mentors.

Payment Information:

  • We require a $10 registration fee (cash, check or monry order) to hold your spot. This fee will be returned to you after the weekend. If you don’t attend the retreat, the fee is non-refundable. Your registration will be complete once we receive the $10 payment. We must receive your payment by Sept 5, Fri; otherwise your space will be made available to another student on the waiting list.
  • Make checks payable to “Providence College” and write your name in the memo line. Mail (or drop off your deposit in a sealed envelope with your name on it) to: Elena Yee, Student Multicultural Activities, Slavin 106c, Providence College, Providence, RI 02918
