​​​​​​​​​​​​​Providence College is committed to offering our community programming and events that educate and build awareness about
sexual misconduct and relationship violence.  We're constantly developing and evaluating our programming, so if you have thoughts
on different ways to reach ou​t and educate our PC community, we welcome your suggestions.  Please contact Jim Campbell, the Assistant
Vice President for Student Development and Compliance (​) to share your ideas.  Listed below are
programs and materials recently conducted and /or currently available to PC students.

  • Step UP! Friar Family Bystander Inter​vention Program​
    • ​​As of Spring 2015, 85% of the student body had participated in the Friar Family Bystander Intervention Program, with additional specialized trainings conducted for Residents Assistants, Orientation Leaders and student athletes.  An updated version of the program will roll-out during the 2015-16 academic year.
    • In the Fall of 2015, Providence College was ​​awarded a grant from the Avon Foundation to assist with the continued development of bystander intervention programming.
  • New Student Orientation - Includes intensive programming on alcohol misuse, consent, and being an active bystander.
  • ​​Campus Climate Survey - Administered in Spring 2015 and Spring 2016.  Results were shared with the campus community during the Fall 2015 and Spring 2017 semesters.​  The survey will be administered again in the Spring of 2018.
  • Faculty/Staff Resource Folders​ - Distributed to faculty/staff members during group meetings and trainings to explain key Title IX information, explain mandatory reporting responsibilities, and provide resource contact information.
  • Transition of sexual assault task force to ongoing Title IX advisory group.
  • Public Safety - Trained sexual assault investigators from the Department of Public Safety​ work in conjunction with a trained independent investigator on Title IX cases.​
  • Revision of community standards procedures to lessen the burden on complainants while assuring fairness for all (see Section VII of the Sexual Misconduct or Relationship Violence Policy​).
  • Viewings of The Hunting Groundheld for faculty, staff, and student leaders in the spring of 2015.
