New Students
Whether you’re a business professional who wants more out of your career, a teacher who is certified in another state but interested in teaching in Rhode Island, or a recent college graduate seeking meaningful work, the Providence College Teacher Certification Program (TCP) can help you reach your goals through:
FAST TRACK TO CERTIFICATION in Biology, Chemistry, English, French, History, Italian, Mathematics, Physics, Social Studies and Spanish. The program also qualifies you to become certified in 46 other states.
If you have your bachelor’s degree, you may be able to earn your certification by completing as few as six education courses and student teaching. if you don’t have your degree, you can enroll in SCE’s Liberal Studies program and earn your teaching certification while you complete your bachelor’s.
FLEXIBLE, CONVENIENT CLASSES
TCP courses are conveniently offered in the evenings and online throughout the year — during fall, spring, and summer semesters. You can choose among on-campus, online, and blended courses (which are a combination of on-campus and online learning).
EXCEPTIONAL VALUE
At $915 a course, the TCP provides tremendous return on your investment. And there are many opportunities for financial aid and scholarships.
A CLOSE-KNIT COMMUNITY
You’ll find small classes with other motivated adult learners like yourself; outstanding faculty made up of current and former teachers, principals, and superintendents; and personal attention and advising.
It’s easy to get started:
MEET WITH THE TCP COORDINATOR, BOB VACHON
Having spent more than 32 years as a secondary school teacher, assistant principal, and principal in Rhode Island, Bob Vachon thoroughly knows the in’s and out’s of the state’s teacher certification process. He will meet with you one-on-one to discuss your goals, answer your questions, and assist you in applying and registering for courses.
