The mission of the Providence College Office of Safety and Security is to safeguard members of the College community, to protect private and institutional property, and to prevent crime.  The Office of Safety and Security strives to maintain an atmosphere of professionalism, courtesy and respect, while embracing diversity through community engagement, and hiring and training practices that enhance the overall mission of the Division of Student Affairs and Providence College.

Annual Security Report

As provided by the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998, prospective students and employees are entitled to request and receive a copy of the College’s Annual Security Report. The report includes statistics for the past three years concerning crimes (whether they occurred on campus, in off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the College, or on public property adjacent to campus) reported to campus security authorities. Each report also provides campus policies and practices concerning security – how to report sexual assault and other crimes, crime prevention efforts, policies/laws governing alcohol and drugs, victims’ assistance programs, student discipline, campus resources, and other matters. Providence College Annual Security and Fire Safety Report

If you do not have access to the internet, you may obtain a copy of the Security Report from the Office of Safety and Security by submitting a request in writing directly to: Providence College, Director of Safety and Security, 1 Cunningham Square. Providence RI. 02918-0001.

Availability of Clery 60 Day Crime and Fire Log

The Office of Safety and Security maintains a Clery Act 60-Day Crime and Fire Log. The following information is filed in the Log: nature of call, date/time reported, date/time incident occurred, general location, and disposition of the incident, (if known). This Log is accessible in the Office of Safety and Security and is open to the public for inspection, upon request, during regular business hours – Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.​​​

Brian J. Shanley, O.P., we want to assure our students and their families, and our faculty and staff, that we have a coordinated and comprehensive plan in place for responding to a variety of emergencies that could occur as a result of human action or natural events.  Members of the Prov​idence College Security and Emergency Management teams work collaboratively with the Providence Police Department to monitor local, regional, national, and international events t​hat may affect Providence College.  Key information is shared between our team and local, state, and federal law­‐enforcement teams. ​
