Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation

The Tribe's logo is a reflection of its past. Framed against the clear sky, a tree perched on a rocky knoll represents Mashantucket, the "much-wooded land" where the people indigenous to this region hunted and prospered. Displayed on the knoll is the mark of Robin Cassasinamon, the Pequot's first sachem following the massacre of the Tribe in 1637 at Mystic Fort. A remarkable leader, he drew together those who had survived. He remained sachem until his death in 1692. The fox stands as a vigilant reminder of the turbulent times when the Pequots adopted the name, which remains today, the Fox People.
