Maersk Line introduces Largest Containership ever to call the United States and Canada

Maersk Line will establish a new era of container shipping in the United States and Canada with the arrival
this summer of the "REGINA MAERSK", the largest containership ever to call at a North American port. The
6,000 TEU vessel will be deployed in Maersk's "Suez Express service", calling the United States East Coast,
Canada, Mediterranean, Middle East and Far East markets and also on one of the carrier's Asia/U.S. West
Coast service lanes - the "Transpacific 6th string".

The "REGINA MAERSK" will call Halifax, Canada July 20, New York July 22, Norfolk, Virginia July 25,
Charleston, South Carolina July 27, Long Beach, California September 11, and Tacoma, Washington
September 17 on this introductory voyage.

Longer than the Eiffel Tower and equal in length to 3 1/2 football fields, the "REGINA MAERSK" was built
in 1996 and represents the first of a series of 15 of the world's largest containerships built at the A.P. Moller
Group's shipyard - Odense Steel Shipyard in Denmark. Fully laden, the "REGINA MAERSK" has a draft of
47.5 feet and requires safe navigation water depths up to 52 feet, as compared with previous generation
vessels at 47 feet.

"The superships of the future are here and they are reshaping the container trade. World container trade is
forecast to grow about 8% annually for the next 3 years and larger ships will carry an increasing share of the
global container trade", said Tommy Thomsen, President, Maersk Inc., Madison, NJ. "We also hope the
significance of this event will help to demonstrate the necessity to upgrade certain ports in the United States
and Canada to be able to accommodate the new generation of containerships and to emphasize the scarcity of
such facilities today. We're operating with a sense of urgency - just like our customers - in today's fast
changing, competitive business environment."
