The threat of invasive species is one of the most overlooked
environmental hazards in association with port development. Evidence of
the environmental implications of invasive species by ballast water discharge
may be found in these bays:
San Fransisco
Bay & Chesapeake Bay

Tremendous loss of habitat is due to the introduction of invasion
species and is currently being addressed as a national environmental issue.
