Application process:
1. Fill out program application, available from Professor Hyde
2. Prepare
a resume
3. Write cover letter addressed to:
Robert Gemma, Executive Director
Rhode Island State Government Internship
Program
Room 8AA, State House
Providence, RI 02903
This letter should explain why you want to do an internship and
what you would gain from the experience that is not available
to you in other,
more traditional
courses at the college. This letter should also express up to three
areas in the RI state government that are of most interest to you.
To gain a better understanding of potential internship settings/placements
within RI state government visit www.info.state.ri.us This
site offers an
overview of different areas of state government.
Assistance with resume and cover letter is available through Career Services
in Slavin Center.
4.Letter of recommendation: Have someone other than a friend or family member
write a letter of recommendation on your behalf. The letter should
be addressed
to the Executive Director at the above address, sealed in an envelope,
and returned to you.
BRING THE APPLICATION, RESUME, COVER LETTER, AND SEALED LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION
TO PROFESSOR HYDE, HOWLEY 304, BY NOVEMBER 16, 2007.
DO NOT SEND ANY MATERIAL YOU HAVE PREPARED OR THE LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION TO
THE STATE HOUSE.Professor Hyde will bring the application, resume,
cover letter, and sealed letter of recommendation to the State House.
Application deadline: November 16, 2007
Those who are accepted for the program may receive credit at Providence College
by enrolling in Political Science 450, Political Science
Internship, or another appropriate course in a different department. See Patricia
