Web Site Details College’s New Strategic Plan

Providence, R.I. — Providence College has launched a comprehensive Web site that details its new Strategic Plan for 2011-2015: Achieving Excellence. Pursuing Truth. Transforming Lives.

As the College nears its centenary, it will use the plan as a guide toward reaching its vision: to become a nationally recognized, premier Catholic liberal arts institution of higher education.

The Strategic Plan Web site features a message from College President Rev. Brian J. Shanley, O.P. ’80, a link to the full text of the Strategic Plan, and video discussions with administrators, alumni/parents, a faculty member, and a student.

The plan and accompanying videos provide detail and perspective about how the blueprint will put the College on a path to greatness — "a place we've never been before," according to Father Shanley.

Developed over many years, the Strategic Plan was approved by the Board of Trustees last fall. It consists of five core values:

• Advancing the Catholic and Dominican Mission of Providence College

• Enhancing Academic Excellence

• Embracing Diversity

• Preparing Our Students for Lives of Meaning and Purpose

• Building Lifelong Relationships, Growing Financial Resources, and Increasing Overall Institutional Effectiveness

Strategic initiatives have been identified for each core value, as well as metrics to gauge progress toward achieving those goals and financial planning to support them.

More information also can be found in the Spring 2012 edition of Providence College Magazine, which will be mailed to families and alumni.
