Spring Dance Concert Showcases Student Choreography

The PC Dance Company will perform its Spring Dance Concert on Friday, April 27, and Saturday, April 28 in the Angell Blackfriars Theatre of the Smith Center for the Arts. 

The event is sponsored by the Department of Theatre, Dance, and Film. Tickets for the show, which starts at 8:00 p.m. Friday, and at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, cost $5 and can be purchased online, at the Smith Center box office, or by phone, by calling (401) 865-2218.

Dr. Wendy R. Oliver, professor of dance and women’s studies, directs the dance company, which has 25 members. All 13 dances will be choreographed by students. They are: Casey Caliendo ’12 (Ridgewood, N.J.), Jaclyn Longo ’12 (Watertown, N.Y.), Kaitlin Elliott ’12 (Middletown, N.J.), Kate Piquette ’12 (Trumbull, Conn.), Alexa Kiffel ’13 (Garden City, N.Y.), Erica Tuccero ’13 (Medfield, Mass.), Lauren Spagnuolo ’13 (Wayland, Mass.), Callie Kovack ’13 (Ridgefield, Conn.), Taylor Briggs ’14 (North Attleboro, Mass.), Moira Power ’14 (Mount Sinai, N.Y.), Jenna Macone ’14 (Stoneham, Mass.),  Meaghan Lambert ’14 (Walworth, N.Y.), and Olivia Romano ’14 (Chepachet, R.I.). In addition, Ted Boyce-Smith ’11 designed the lighting.

The company will perform a variety of styles at the concert, including jazz, tap, ballet, and contemporary, accompanied by music by Vitamin String Quartet, Styx, Adele, and Tchaikovsky.
