McCarthy ’12, Lacasse ’12 Shatter School Athletics Records
Providence, R.I. — Two Providence College student-athletes set school records — and in one case, a New England mark — on the weekend of January 28-29.
Competing in the Terrier Invitational in Boston, David McCarthy ’12 (Waterford, Ireland) established school and New England collegiate records in the mile run with a time of 3:55.75, breaking an 18-year mark in both cases.
Meanwhile, women’s ice hockey goaltender Genevieve Lacasse ’12 (Kingston, Ontario) notched her 59th career victory in net for the Friars in their 5-2 victory at the University of Connecticut. In doing so, she surpassed the school record that had stood since 2007.
