Four Career Fairs on the Horizon for Fall Semester

Providence College students should get their resumés ready to explore job and internship possibilities at several upcoming career and graduate school fairs.

The Fall Career & Grad School Fair, sponsored by the Career Education Center, will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 17, in the Peterson Recreation Center.

More than 120 organizations and graduate programs have registered to attend, and the lineup is more diverse than previous years, said Eileen L. Wisnewski, the career center’s associate director for employer relations, engagement, and outreach.

Although accounting firms are heavily represented this time of year, it is because the businesses are in the peak of their recruiting season, Wisnewski said. The fair will feature additional organizations that should appeal to other majors as well, she said. “Students will hopefully see a good sampling of other industries,” she said.

New additions include military programs that provide financial assistance to medical school students, as well as RiverzEdge, a Woonsocket-based arts education nonprofit.

Alumni are also encouraged to attend the event, Wisnewski said. Everyone participating should wear interview attire and bring resumés.

This year, Providence College students can participate in both the job fair and interview day portion of the Liberal Arts Recruiting Connection (LARC) on Friday, November 2, at the Courtyard by Marriott Boston Tremont Hotel on Tremont Street.

LARC events are only open to students at nine colleges, including PC. In the past, the organizers had restricted the pre-selected interview opportunities to students at the original eight founding colleges, but this year is the first that PC seniors can also participate. Several premier consulting firms only consider pre-screened candidates, so this is an "excellent" opportunity for graduating seniors, Wisnewski said.

All students, even those who have not been invited for an interview, can attend the job fair, she said.

Two other career fairs open to PC students are The Government Career Fair scheduled from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on October 24 at the University of Rhode Island and the BIG EAST Virtual Career Fair on November 13 and 14.
