Night Madness Kicks Off Season
Providence, R.I.--The Coach Cooley Era will begin on Friday, October 14, as
Late Night Madness in Alumni Hall will open the 2011-12 college basketball
season. Admission is free and doors will open at 9:30 p.m. The athletic
department also will be offering a live video stream of the event at www.friars.com.
Late Night Madness festivities will kick off at 9:30 p.m.
Local hip-hop artist Ace Diamond, the Providence College Pep Band, and various
emcees will provide music and entertainment until 10:00 p.m.
The men’s basketball team will be introduced along with first-year
head coach Ed Cooley. Members of the team will then take part in a dunk
competition with celebrity judges. Soon thereafter, head women’s basketball oach
Phil Seymore and the Friar women’s basketball team will be introduced.
There will be performances by the Providence College
cheerleading and dance teams. The Providence College Dance Club, Board of
Multicultural Student Affairs, and Board of Programmers also will take part in
their annual dance competition. Throughout the evening, disc jockey DJ Finesse
will entertain the crowd.
The general public is welcome to attend free of charge and
all Friar fans are encouraged to attend. The seating for the event is on a
first-come, first-serve basis. Fans are encouraged to wear black attire to show
support for the teams.
