​Multicultural Scholarship Program Information 

The Multicultural Scholarship Program at Providence College monitors, mentors and retains students who receive scholarships designed for ethnic and cultural minorities at Providence College. These scholarships are intended to be four-year scholarships to assist incoming students of color. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of the applicant's academic performance and potential cultural contribution to the College. Transfer students and present Providence College students are eligible for the scholarships, as funds are available.

All Scholars meet with the Program Director on a regularly scheduled basis to discuss their academic, professional, and social development. Areas of emphasis include transition to Providence College, academic performance, and leadership development.

Requirements to obtain a scholarship
 

  • Strong academic background (taking most rigorous courses offered at high school)
  • Leadership potential with emphasis in cultural competency and or community service activities
  • Submit a well-written concise portfolio for considerdation
  • Please note that there is only one application for multicultural Scholarships - the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship application

Requirements to maintain scholarship
 

  • Maintain a 2.5 cumulative gpa (cgpa)
  • Meet with the Program Director on a regularly scheduled basis to discuss their academic, professional, and social development. Discussions emphasize monitoring academic achievement, acclimation to Providence College, leadership development, and volunteerism
  • Participate in scheduled multicultural events and programs that increases awareness of and educates broader campus on issues related to culture and ethnic diversity

  • Solid quality relationships with faculty, staff, alumni, and other Scholars through mentoring and collaboration
  • Use your talents and skills to enhance the Providence College community, especially in leadership and internship opportunities
  • Celebration of cultural awareness and appreciation through multicultural initiated activities
  • Challenge and encouragement to succeed academically, socially, and professionally
  • Expand your ways of thinking about career options and professional development
  • Proactive intervention with the goal of navigating the evolving landscape of the college experience
