Marketing offers a diverse and extensive set of opportunities for career development. About one third of the Fortune 1000 chief executives come from the paths of marketing.
In order to have a good understanding of careers in marketing you must dispel the notion that a marketing degree leads to careers only in advertising and selling. There is a whole lot more to marketing than advertising and sales. Of course, there are many attractive opportunities in those fields as well but they are not the only ones.
After receiving your degree in marketing you can move along several broad paths:
- Continue further education, work toward a doctorate degree and join the academic career in marketing
- Start a professional life in a chosen road of marketing
- Establish and run your own business
- Or any combination of the above.
