Kelly Hughes is the Campus Minister for Peer Ministry and Student Outreach. She graduated from Providence College in 2011 with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and (happily) returned to Friartown in 2014. During her time as an undergraduate, Kelly sang with the Liturgical Choir, volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, and led the Connections Freshmen Retreat. After graduation, Kelly served as a Cap Corps Volunteer with Capuchin Youth and Family Ministries in New York, and earned a Master’s degree in Theology and Ministry from Boston College. You can find Kelly in her office in the Campus Ministry Center (or the Dunkin’ Donuts in Slavin!) Contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Bob Pfunder is Campus Minister for Global Service and Justice in Campus Ministry. He works with student leaders on the Habitat for Humanity, Special Olympics, and Social Justice Advocacy ministries, as well as the NOLA and International Immersions. A PC alum himself (Class of 2009), he went on for a Master of Theological Studies degree at the University of Notre Dame and continued at ND running a theological service program for graduate students. He returned to PC in 2014, along with his wife, Elizabeth (Class of 2008). Bob and Liz did, in fact, meet at PC, where they played music at the 10:30pm Mass. In April 2015, they welcomed their daughter, Grace Anne, who is already frequenting campus ministry with her big cheeks and infectious smile.
One of PC's two assistant chaplains, Fr. Philip-Neri Reese, O.P. serves as Chaplain to the Peer Ministry Program and Director of Formation for the peer ministers, working closely (and happily!) with Kelly Hughes. He also teaches philosophy. Fr. Philip-Neri graduated from Dickinson College in 2007, entered the Dominican Order in 2009, and made his solemn vows as a friar preacher in 2013. In 2015 he completed a Licentiate in Philosophy at the Catholic University of America and was ordained a priest of Jesus Christ. Fr. Philip-Neri loves attention, hates Awful Awfuls (sorry, Newport Creamery!), and is constitutionally incapable of "planning things" (sorry, Kelly!). He will drop anything to hear a confession and will do anything to preach the gospel. He has the best job in the world.
Fr. Dominic Verner, O.P. graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Electrical Engineering, but left that profession behind to enter the Order of Preachers in 2010. He became a Dominican Friar to follow in the footsteps of St. Dominic, who was a brother to all and who was alive to the drama of salvation at work in every soul. As assistant chaplain, Fr. Dominic oversees Faith Formation in Campus Ministry, and he is always at your service!
Fr. Peter Martyr Yungwirth, O.P. is the Chaplain at Providence College. He grew up in Hagerstown, MD as eighth of nine children. He attended the University of Maryland, College Park, beginning as an aerospace engineer but graduating with a degree in Reformation History and a concentration in Honors Humanities. A year after college, he entered the Dominican Order and was ordained a priest in May 2014. In January 2015, he joined the Campus Ministry staff here at Providence College as an Assistant Chaplain, and in January 2016 was named the Chaplain. He likes ice cream, t-rex jokes, and hiking.
