Providence College Celebrates the Grand Opening of Common Grounds Café – A Collaboration between Providence College Students and the Smith Hill Community



Providence, R.I. – Providence College and a group of its students in partnership with the Smith Hill Community Development Corporation (CDC) held a ribbon cutting ceremony today for the official grand opening of the Common Grounds Café located at 233 Douglas Avenue, Providence, R.I.

Providence College Theologian and Biologist Receives Prestigious NIH Grant for Cancer Research



Providence, R.I. – Reverend Nicanor Austriaco, O.P., associate professor of biology at Providence College, has been awarded a $257,049 grant from the National Institute of Health/National Institute for General Medical Sciences to support a project titled Genetic Dissection of Yeast Bax Inhibitor Function in UPR and Calcium Signaling.  The grant, which is an Academic Research Enhancement Award (NIH AREA R15), is for the period May 2014 through April 2017.

Providence College, Providence Parks Department, and City Officials Collaborate to Build a Community Garden in Neighborhood Park
  

Providence, R.I. -- For the eighth consecutive year, Providence College alumni, staff, and students will work with the City of Providence in Friars United for Service in Our Neighborhood (FUSION).  This year’s project will be to build a community garden at Corliss Park (located on Corina Street, off of Hawkins Street in Providence, R.I.).  The event will be held on Saturday, April 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
