RI Health Benefits Exchange ​

 

Dr. Robert B. Hackey, Professor of Health Policy and Management and Director of Health Policy Program at Providence College.

The federal Affordable Care Act requires that health insurance exchanges be established in every state by January 2014. Rhode Island's exchange program, HealthSource RI, is opening its doors this week. The main purpose of this program is to enable low and moderate income individuals, and small employers to obtain affordable health coverage.

According to HealthSource RI's website, over 25 insurance plans are available to Rhode Islanders. Enrollment in the insurance plans will run for six months ending on March 2014.
