Dr. Dan Horne, Associate Professor of Marketing at Providence College
According to a recent article from USA Today, an increasing number of shoppers are still turning to gift cards for presents this holiday season. A study by the National Retail Federation found that gift card spending will reach an all-time high, with more than 80% of shoppers planning to purchase at least one. In addition, companies are continuing to roll out new versions of their respective gift cards. For example, Starbucks recently rolled out limited edition $450 gift cards, geared toward the high-end consumer.
Dr. Dan Horne, associate professor of marketing at Providence College, is a leading national expert on gift cards. Horne says there's been a shift in their usage. Many consumers are preferring the low cost retailers' gift cards and using them to purchase necessity items rather than luxury goods, due to a lackluster economy.
Dr. Horne can provide expert analysis on gift cards, fees, and consumer behavior. To speak with Dr. Horne directly, please contact Chrissy Centazzo at (401)-225-0028, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
