Proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus, bringing to life the history of the Church, and sharing the Catholic perspective on important issues, you are one of the most prominent and compelling contemporary evangelists for our faith. You have embraced this priestly calling, using multiple media platforms to share the Good News and encourage Catholics and non-Catholics alike to appreciate the faith and the power of God’s love.

As a theologian and a seminary rector, you are further inspiring current and future Catholic leaders to follow your sterling example of faithful service.

For these reasons, Father Chairman and Father President, the Corporation of Providence College presents Father Robert E. Barron as one deemed worthy to receive the honorary degree of Doctor of Religious Education and requests you to confer upon him this degree together with all its rights and privileges.

You are a faithful example of selfless devotion to causes that provide opportunity for others, especially children in need. Thanks to your energetic leadership and generous support, the doors to Catholic elementary and secondary schools have swung open for thousands of youngsters who could not otherwise afford those opportunities.

The Catholic Schools Foundation, which you created to support this worthy goal, and the Birmingham Foundation, which also supports Catholic causes, have had an incalculable positive impact on the faith and the formation of a generation of young people. Your unyielding efforts exemplify Providence College’s commitment to sacred core values including diversity, piety, and fidelity.

For these reasons, Father Chairman and Father President, the Corporation of Providence College presents Paul J. Birmingham as one deemed worthy to receive the honorary degree of Doctor of Humanitarian Service and requests that you confer upon him this degree together with all its rights and privileges.
