Local Rabbi to Speak at Providence College as part of Catholic-Jewish Series
Providence, R.I. – Rabbi Wayne M. Franklin, Senior Rabbi from Temple Emanu-El in Providence, R.I., will deliver a presentation as part of the Providence College Lecture and Colloquium series, Theological Exchange Between Catholics and Jews on Thursday, November 10, 2011. The event will be held at 4:00 p.m. in Aquinas Lounge, on campus. The lecture is entitled, “My Children Have Vanquished Me!”: Decision-Making in Judaism.
Rabbi Franklin has been the Senior Rabbi at Temple Emanu-El in Providence since 1981. He is a graduate of Yeshiva University and was ordained as a rabbi at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America in 1970. Rabbi Franklin has been active in both the Jewish community and beyond in various interfaith endeavors, including the Rabbis and Priests Dialogue and the Abrahamic Accord. He currently chairs the Publications Committee of the Rabbinical Assembly, the international association of Conservative Rabbis.
