Three sites of interest:
|
1.
|
Sun Positions
|
- enter any latitude, longitude, and date/time to find the sun's
(approx.)
position as altitude and azimuth
- a Java output will show the sun's position for every hour of the day
as
well as the highest and lowest altitudes and the sunrise and
sunset
|
|
2.
|
Formulas
|
-
the formulas used, their derivation and explanation
are given for the
above site
|
|
3.
|
Sundials
|
-
enter any latitude to find the sundial settings for
each hour
-
formulas and their derivations are given
-
a Java output will show the actual horizontal sundial
face
|
| Notes: |
- The Java output has been tested to work in Java enabled
browsers such as
Internet Explorer 6.0, Netscape 7.01, and Sun Microsystems Hot Java 3.0.
In addition because the output could take some time to form I recommend
at least a 400 MHz processor.
- Java is enabled for IE by Tools/Internet Options/Advanced (tab)/check
Java
- Java is enabled for Netscape by Edit/Preferences/Advanced/check Enable
