We have several exciting initiatives happening in our section this Fall.  At the Spring Section meeting, the executive Board approved surveying the membership concerning Spring Meetings.  The Board is divided on whether to continue holding Spring meetings.  The survey should give us more information to make our decision.  You should have received an e-mail directing you to the survey.  Be sure to answer the survey and let the members of the Executive Board know your feelings.  Another new event in our Section is our first problem contest.  You can read about it in this newsletter.  Other Sections have done this with great success.  Coincidentally, the two directors of this contest are the two candidates for Vice-Chair and next Chair of the Section: Jason Moliterno and Rob Poodiack.  Their biographies and those of the other candidates for office are in this newsletter.  Come to the membership meeting at the Fall Section meeting and vote.

You may notice that the winner of the Northeastern Section’s Distinguished Teacher Award, Gil Strang, won the national Haimo Teaching Award for the umpteenth time.  Our Section overflows with excellent teachers.  You can nominate one of them for this year’s teaching award.  Directions are on the web site and in this newsletter.
