Network Services is responsible the design, operations, maintenance, and support of Providence College’s wired and wireless communication services.  

Services provided include:

  • Wired Network Connectivity
  • Wireless Network (PC-Secure) Connectivity
  • NAC
  • Network IP Management
  • Firewall Services
  • Internet 
OSHEAN

Providence College connects to the Internet through a consortium of area schools called OSHEAN (The Ocean State Higher Education / Economic Development and Administrative Network). The advantages of this membership are three-fold: 

  • OSHEAN members share the cost of Internet I (public) connectivity
  • Internet 2​ connectivity is shared amongst member institutions. (Internet 2 is an advanced network of applications and technologies for research and higher education.)
  • The college shares technical expertise and security monitoring with member institutions
