Our Mission:

The mission of the Office of Institutional Research (OIR) is to provide accurate data and analytical support for official institutional reporting and academic planning, and to improve institutional effectiveness by initiating and conducting original studies that inform policy development, academic programs, and the Providence College environment. It further serves the College community by acting as a resource for offices and departments in need of research expertise for projects and initiatives that serve the College.​

Our Goals:

The broad goals of the OIR are as follows:

  • ​Meet reporting requirements of agencies to which Providence College is accountable, such as the U.S. Department of Education and the National Collegiate Athletic Association;
  • Respond to external survey requests such as U.S. News and World Report;
  • Compile and publish official college data;
  • Conduct original studies that inform academic planning;
  • Support College initiatives by providing data for existing grants and new grant applications;
  • Provide​​ data for ongoing academic program reviews;
  • Provide cross-sectional and longitudinal data for decision-makers at all levels;
  • Respond to ad hoc internal and external requests for data.​ ​
