Apple TV in the Classroom

Classrooms equipped with an Apple TV enable you to connect your iPad or Windows tablet to the projector wirelessly. You can move around the room, holding your tablet, with content displayed for everyone to see. You can also have a student with an iPad take control of the Apple TV and display his/her work.

 

How do I connect my iPad to an Apple TV?

 

Apple TV in a Crestron Touch Panel Classroom:
Connecting an iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, Mac laptop with AirPlay
(iOS 7.x or higher needs to be installed)

Step One:  use touch screen

  • Touch Computer
  • Touch Apple TV
  • Send to specific projector/screen (only available in dual projector rooms)

 Step Two:  connect iPad

  • Must be on the Home screen (double-press Home button to get to Home screen)
  • Swipe up from bottom of screen to reveal AirPlay 

  • Press AirPlay button and select current classroom 
             Don’t see AirPlay button? Confirm connection to PC-Secure (see below)
  • Enter on-screen code
  • Swipe Mirroring to ON (if not already on)
Step Three: disconnect iPad before leaving room or allow another device to use AirPlay
  • Double-press Home button
  • Press AirPlay button and select iPad

Apple TV in a Projector Hand Remote Classroom:
Connecting an iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, Mac laptop with AirPlay

Step One:  Use remote

  • Press On
  • Wait a moment for projector to turn on
  • Press Input D (confirm input on card in room)

Step Two:  connect iPad

  • Double-press Home button

  • Swipe up from bottom of screen to reveal AirPlay

  • Press AirPlay button and select current classroom
             Don’t see AirPlay button? Confirm connection to PC-Secure (see below)
  • Enter on-screen code
  • Swipe Mirroring to ON (if not already on)

Step Three:  disconnect iPad before leaving room or allow another device to use AirPlay

  • Double-press Home button
  • Press AirPlay button and select iPad

Step Four:  set projector to computer input

  • Press Input A on remote (confirm input on card in room)

Connected to PC-Secure?

  • Select Settings on the iPad
  • Select Wi-Fi
  • If no connection, select PC-Secure as the network
  • Enter network credentials


I have a Windows tablet. Can I connect to an Apple TV?

Yes, there’s an app for that! If you are faculty, contact the Help Desk (helpdesk@providence.edu, or
call 865-4357) for access to the app. If you are a student, you will need to purchase AirParrot.

Can I connect to an Apple TV using my iPhone, iPod Touch, or Mac laptop?

Yes, if the device can use AirPlay, you probably can connect to an Apple TV.
