What is interlibrary loan
"ILL" is a library borrowing service that works nationwide allowing you to get both books and articles from sources beyond HELIN and Brown University
Who can request an ILL?
Current PC students, faculty, and staff
When should I use ILL?
When you can't find an item in the HELIN or Brown U. ("In-Rhode") catalogs
How long does it take?
Books typically take from 1 to 3 weeks; articles may come in sooner
How much does it cost?
Usually we can find free lenders but if there is a charge, we will let you know before requesting

How do I know if it went through?
Check your library record: The "ILL" tab will show all of your requests, either "waiting for arrival" or "ready for pickup". Checked out ILL books are in with the other books and show the due date
How will I know if it's in?
For books, you will be notified by email and you wil receive most artices the same way
How long is the loan for?
About a month for books. Articles are yours to keep and use within copyright guidelines
Can I renew my book?
Call, email, or come in and ask us for a renewal. The renewal date wil show up in your library account or we will notify you if it's denied
