2. Q: How can I find out the status of my application or follow up on it?
A: Human Resources and hiring managers are continually reviewing resumes. If your background and experience is a strong match for the position to which you are applying, the hiring manager or Human Resources will contact you for a phone or in-person interview. Please understand that the resume review process takes time due to the high volume of interest our positions receive.

3. Q: What happens after I submit my application and resume?
A: Once your application is in the system, it will be reviewed by Human Resources and/or the hiring manager or supervisor from the respective department with the vacancy. You will hear from the hiring department or human resources should there be interest in setting up an interview. Due to the high volume of resumes we receive, it is not possible to respond directly to all applicants, only to those whose candidacy is being pursued. In addition, the length of the recruitment process varies based on the department’s needs. Traditionally, the process may take some time, in some cases, more than 90 days. Therefore, your patience is greatly appreciated.

12. Q. I’ve applied for a faculty position; however, my reference provider did not receive an email with the link to upload a letter of reference.
A. The PC job site sends an automated message to each reference provider once an application for a faculty position is completed. Some email servers may not accept an email from an unknown source, and will redirect the reference email to your junk or spam mail. Reference providers should check their junk and spam mails to make sure an email from the PC job site has not been redirected. If the reference provider still has difficulty with the reference portal, he or she can email psicking@providence.edu, or call the Office of Academic Affairs at 401-865-2155.

13. Q: I’m interested in applying to Graduate Assistantships but I’m not in a program, can I still apply?
A: You can apply to Graduate Assistantships before you are in a program but you cannot be hired until you are officially accepted into a graduate degree program.

14. Q: How will the hiring department know what program I have been accepted into?
A: On the graduate assistant application, there is a question that asks what program you have been accepted into. If you have yet to be accepted, it is best that you put “pending” so the supervisor knows you have applied to a program but have not been accepted. It is your responsibility to let the supervisor know if your status changes regarding your acceptance.
