Faculty

‚ÄčDr. Todd Olszewski and Lindsey Trubia '12At Providence College, students learn from faculty who are published scholars and experienced practitioners. Each faculty member brings a unique disciplinary perspective to the study of health and health care. Faculty regularly involve students in their ongoing research through collaborative learning exercises and projects. In addition, all of the faculty in the program have "real world" experience in either the public or private sectors, affording students direct access to the health care community beyond Providence College.

Regardless of their disciplinary background, our faculty are committed to excellence in teaching. In recent years, program faculty spearheaded a renewed emphasis on writing across the curriculum, and on improving both students' critical reasoning and research skills. Over the past three years, the program significantly increased the number of  advanced seminar offerings for juniors and seniors in the major. These new writing-intensive courses foster strong mentoring relationships between HPM faculty and students.

The program currently has five full-time faculty:

Dr. Tuba Agartan (Ph.D., Binghamton University, 2008), Assistant Professor of Health Policy and Management, joined the faculty in September 2008. Her principal teaching and research interests lie in the areas of comparative health policy (Europe, Turkey), international health, and the sociology of health and illness.
