The HPM program's first web site, including much of the HTML code, graphics, and other features, was the result of a remarkably productive collaboration among students in Dr. Robert Hackey's Computing and Information Systems class (HPM 220) during the Spring semester of 2000. With technical assistance from Dr. Thomas King of the Management Department and Amanda Hathaway '99, students submitted entries to a design contest to select the graphics for the web site.
Dr. Hackey spent much of the summer of 2000 working as a consultant for the Office of Health Statistics at the Rhode Island Department of Health. Using data from the 1999 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System in Rhode Island, his research explored the extent to which Rhode Islanders engage in high risk behaviors.
Dr. Pezza spent his sabbatical leave in Latin America during the Spring semester of 2001.
