Marcy B. Zipke
Dr. Marcy B. Zipke received both her Ph.D. and master’s degrees in educational psychology from The Graduate Center at the City University of New York (CUNY). She joined the Providence College faculty in 2006. Her research focuses include effective reading comprehension instruction, teacher education, and linguistic knowledge. She teaches literacy methods courses, Communication Disorders, and the occasional graduate literacy course. Dr. Zipke is also the faculty mentor for Alpha Upsilon Alpha, the literacy honor society of the International Reading Association.
She has published several articles on metalinguistic awareness and reading comprehension. Most recently she has been involved in research projects concerning new technologies in the classroom and early childhood literacy play.
Dr. Zipke aspires to make lasting contributions to the community. She believes in forging strong relationships with public schools and their students in order to positively contribute to our national conversation over curricula and methods of teaching.
