Friday, Feb. 10

Alumni and families of sophomores, juniors, and seniors are invited to mingle with faculty, staff, and the Dominican community. Hear greetings from President Rev. Brian J. Shanley, O.P. '80 and listen to Dr. Sarah B. Alhouti, assistant professor of marketing, discuss the business behind social media as taught through her popular class, Marketing on the Internet.

Friar Hockey Game Watch and Pep Rally

Based on two years of interviews following the vicious murder of 21-year old Matthew Shepard by two Laramie citizens, the BlackFriars Theatre production illuminates the atmosphere in the town, the media attention on the trial that followed, and the aftermath of a tragic death that encouraged a national conversation far beyond Wyoming.

President’s Remarks and "A Basketball Life" with Doris Burke ’87

​President Rev. Brian J. Shanley, O.P. '80 will offer updates on the College and welcome the featured speaker, Doris Burke '87, '92G & '05Hon. A three-time All-BIG EAST player at PC, Burke went on to become a pioneer in the world of television sports broadcasting. She'll share stories from her prestigious career as a versatile commentator for ESPN on NBA and NCAA basketball, among other assignments.

Emmy-winning filmmaker Mike Leonard '70 & '00Hon. produced this 45-minute film tribute to PC. After the screening, Joseph Carr ’83, assistant vice president for marketing and communications, and Dr. Richard J. Grace ’62, professor emeritus of history, will discuss the film.

When diverse cultures come together, some rise to power and others are marginalized. Dr. Dana L. Dillon, assistant professor of theology and of public and community service studies, and Dr. Jennifer G. Illuzzi, associate professor of history, will discuss the subject as it's taught in their Development of Western Civilization colloquium.
