Urban Action is a two part program which supports community service projects in the Providence community. The first part of the program is designed for first year students and takes place prior to the beginning of the academic year. The second part of the program takes place throughout the academic year and is open to all students.
August 20-24, 2017
Urban Action sponsors a five day program for incoming first-year students. This program is designed to increase students’ understanding of urban issues while also introducing them to the Providence community. Through UA, students spend three days volunteering at local sites in the city of Providence, and one day volunteering on campus helping fellow classmates move in. Through dedication to service and reflection, they make a difference in their new community. This is also a great opportunity to meet other students and to learn more about Providence College. Activities conclude in time for students to fully participate in Fall Orientation. The cost of the Urban Action Program is $175 which includes meals, site transportation, and social activities. Registrations are accepted on a first come-first served basis. The program capacity is 150 students. Students will be notified in mid-July if they are accepted into the program.
A limited number of need-based scholarships are available for the Urban Action Program. Students interested in applying for a need-based scholarship should complete the online registration form above, and then also complete the Urban Action Scholarship Application Form.
