The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry offers programs that lead to bachelor of arts or bachelor of science degrees in chemistry and a bachelor of science degree in biochemistry.
The bachelor of science program in chemistry is designed to provide in-depth training in all areas of chemistry for those students with a strong interest in research or graduate school. The bachelor of arts program in chemistry is extremely flexible with fewer required courses in chemistry and mathematics, offering a wider scope of elective course opportunities to allow students to tailor a program to meet their individual needs. The bachelor of science program in biochemistry combines the chemistry courses required for the bachelor of arts in chemistry program with selected courses in biology and biochemistry. The program is excellent preparation for students interested in medical and dental school, as well as students interested in graduate school in biochemistry or molecular biology.
