Michael Wyzga: Maintaining Your Values Ninety Days at a Time
The discussion will center on the balance of morals and values in a free market society. With increasing quarterly earnings focus by investors, is it possible to maintain ones values in a sustainable way? Many companies in America begin with the foundation of a moral and ethical business but fade under the unrelenting pressure of profit. During the discussion, I will contrast my experiences at Lotus Development, a high technology company, with Genzyme, a biotechnology company.
Mr. Wyzga is President and Chief Executive Officer of Radius Health, Inc. a biotechnology company focused on acquiring and developing drug therapies for osteoporosis and women's health. Prior to joining Radius, he was Executive Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer of Genzyme from 1998 until its acquisition by Sanofi in April 2011. While at Genzyme, he was recognized as a Top Five Biotech CFO by Institutional Investor. Prior to joining Genzyme, Mr. Wyzga was chief financial officer of Sovereign Hill Software. He also served as chief financial officer of CACHELINK, a software company, and held various senior management positions at Lotus Development.
