Biographical Information:
Susan Lyman, sculptor and painter, has been teaching sculpture and three-dimensional design at Providence College since 2009. Previously she taught at Rhode Island School of Design, Massachusetts College of Art, Hamilton and Kirkland Colleges, the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, and the University of Michigan School Of Art, where she received her BFA and MFA. She also attended Rhode Island School of Design.
Lyman is the recipient of grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Pollock-Krasner Foundation, the Artists’ Foundation of Boston, and a faculty research grant from Rhode Island School of Design. She has exhibited her work in numerous solo and group exhibitions in the United States, New Zealand, and Japan. Her work is held in corporate and museum collections including Champion International Paper, Saks Fifth Avenue, Arkansas Art Center and Museum, Nelson Fine Art Museum in Tempe, AZ, and Provincetown Art Association and Museum (PAAM). Her work was recently featured in “Second Nature: Vico Fabbris, Susan Lyman, Michael Mazur, Nathalie Miebach” at PAAM, and in a solo exhibition in Higgins Gallery at Cape Cod Community College where she was artist-in-residence in 2011.

- Professor Lyman is represented by Gallery Ehva in Provincetown, MA and her work is featured in four exhibitions during their summer 2012 season.
- Forthcoming four person exhibition, October 2012, Improbable Places at Chazan Gallery, Wheeler School, Providence, RI.
- Professor Lyman is also now being represented by Boston Sculptors Gallery and will be the subject of a solo exhibition on view January 30-March 3, 2013.
