Sand Mandala
September 21 - September 27
Preview Opening: Thursday, September 18, 2008 5-9 p.m.
Opening Reception: Sunday, September 21, 2008, 2-4 p.m.
Gallery Night Providence: October 16, November 20, 5-9 p.m.
The completed sand mandala will be on view Saturday,
September 27 beginning at 12:00 noon until approximately
3:00 p.m. when it will be dismantled and taken to the State House
by 4:00 p.m. A 'blessing' will then take place followed by Tibetan music and much chanting as the sand is walked to the water and poured into the river at sunset (approximately 6:15 p.m.).
If the rains hold off, the ceremony will be followed by a large Waterfire.
