Two prominent members of the College community have established a scholarship fund to benefit minority students who major in elementary or secondary education. Dr. Francis P. Charitable giving opportunity under the Katrina relief act
You
may be able to donate a major gift to Providence College and gain a
personal benefit for your charity through the Katrina Emergency Tax Relief
Act.
The act encourages gifts to educational institutions and other organizations
and suspends percentage limitations for qualified cash contributions
during the remainder of 2005—whether or not the contributions are
related to Hurricane Katrina. Because of the temporary change in the law,
donors
may, in some cases, deduct cash gifts up to 100% of their adjusted
gross income—double what is normally permitted. For more information,

Men's soccer team rebounds with a passion
From winless to tournament qualifier. That summarizes the turnaround season for the 2005 PC men's soccer team, which did not win a game last fall. The Friars were rewarded for their diligence and determination this season by qualifying for the postseason BIG EAST Tournament. This came following a regular season in which they posted a 5-3-7 record that included a victory and a tie against nationally ranked teams.
