Homecoming 2008: Reminisce with classmates, cheer the Friars
Homecoming
Weekend 2008—February 15-17—is a great time to catch up with
classmates at parties, at brunches, or strolling the revitalized PC
campus on your way to the new Concannon Fitness Center. The weekend
also will feature four Friars' home athletic games, a Hall of Fame induction ceremony,
and an a cappella concert. [more]
Fourteen to be inducted into PC Athletic Hall of Fame
Twelve
former PC standout athletes, including cross country and track star
Amy Rudolph '95 (right), and two former Friar head coaches, will be inducted into the
Providence College Athletic
Hall of Fame on Saturday, February 16, during Homecoming Weekend 2008.
The event will include special recognition of seven PC alumnae who
were members of the 1998 Gold Medal-winning U.S. Women's Olympic Ice
Hockey Team. [more]
Honorary degree nominations welcomed for commencement
Alumni
are being asked to nominate candidates for honorary degrees for Commencement
Exercises in May 2008. College President Rev. Brian J. Shanley, O.P. '80
says that among the candidates who should be considered are alumni
whose lives and accomplishments embody the mission and values of the
College. [more]
Fire
victims to be remembered at Mass
All
alumni are invited to attend the 4:30 p.m. Mass on Thursday, December
13, in St. Dominic Chapel, which will be offered in memory of the 10
female students who lost their lives as a result of the fire in Aquinas
Hall on December 13, 1977. The principal celebrant and homilist will be
College President Rev. Brian J. Shanley, O.P. '80.
Keeping
the promise this holiday season
The
holiday season is a wonderful time for members of the College community
to give something back to the faculty, staff, and the Dominicans who
have promised to transform the lives of every student—past, present,
and future. All alumni are invited to make a gift to support the Providence
College Fund in helping to keep this promise. Your end-of-calendar-year
gift will directly impact the lives of all undergraduates and will
directly support ongoing faculty enrichment and academic programs.
