Summary of Shows Examined

 

The Jaime Foxx Show is a comedy about an aspiring entertainer working at his family's hotel, King's Tower, while trying to get his foot into the entertainment business. Jaime Foxx stares as Jaime King who works for his vivacious Aunt Helen (Ellia English) and Uncle Junior (Garrett Moris), a habitual gambler. The best part of Jaime's job is working with Francesca "Fancy" Monroe (Garcell Beauvais), the beautiful front desk clerk. Jaime's attempts to get close to her are always interrupted by Braxton T. Hartnabrig (Christopher B. Duncan), the hotel's Ivy League accountant.

 

 

Seinfeld is often a show described as a "show about nothing". This show makes ordinary, everyday life stuff become extraordinary comedy. Jerry Seinfeld, as Jerry Seinfeld, stars as a stand up comedian, who, together with his group of friends, struggles with single life in New York City. Julia Louis-Dreyfus, stars as Jerry's ex-girlfriend and current pal, Elaine Benes. Jason Alexander, stars as George Costanza, Jerry's neurotic best friend. Michael Richards, stars as Jerry's eccentric next door neighbor, Cosmo Kramer.

 

 

In The House stars rap artist L.L. Cool J, Alfonso Ribeiro from the Fresh Prince of Bel Air , and Kim Wayans from In Living Color as three professionals operating a sports injury clinic. L.L. Cool J plays Marion Hill who is a retired professional football player, due to injury. Kim Wayans stars as, Tonia, a physical therapist, and Max, played by Alfonso Ribeiro is an egocentric young doctor. All three stars have different ideas for their partnership in the sports injury clinic. Marion Hill also has his hands full at home as guardian to teenage Tiffany Warren, who is always set on getting her own way.

 

 

Mad About You stars comedian Paul Reiser and actress, Helen Hunt, as Paul and Jaime Buchmann. Currently they face the new frontier of parenthood, while trying to sustain their marital bliss by sidestepping the hurdles of love in the 90's-always open and honest which helps them find their way together. Paul and Jaime are surrounded by their loyal friends, Paul's chummy cousin Ira Buchmann (John Pankow) and Jaime's trusted friend, Fran (Leila Kenzle). They also have a lovable but somewhat dense dog, Murry who also lives in their Manhattan apartment. Also important in Paul and Jaime's lives are Paul's parents, the overprotective Sylvia (Cynthia Harris) and stubborn yet loving Burt Buchmann (Louis Zorich).

 

 

Sister/Sister stars identical twins Tamera and Tia (Tamera and Tia Mowry) who were separated at birth and adopted by different families nearly 15 years ago. Tia lived in Detroit with her outspoken mother, Lisa Landry (Jackee Harry), while Tamera lived in the suburbs with her father Ray Campbell (Tim Reid). A fateful shopping trip brings the twins together. Tia and Tamera hit it off immediately, though their mother and father have nothing in common, except the girls. For the sake of the twins, the parents agree to live together in Ray's house. The twins share a room and discover how different they are even though their looks are identical. Tia is an honor student who's more comfortable with books than boys. This season Tia will break away from her more wild and crazy sister and get accepted into private school. Tia will have to make some important life decisions about moving away from her best friend and sister, Tamera.

 

 

Friends stars Jennifer Anistin, Courtny Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer in a sophisticated comedy about six close-knit young friends living in New York City. The show focuses on the friendship of three men and three women who constantly gather in each other's apartment and share sofa space at the trendy Central Park coffee house. Monica Geller (Cox), is a chef with an obsession for neatness and order, Her roommate, Rachel Green (Aniston), is Monica's pampered best friend from high school who works as a fashion buyer for a major retail chain. Rachel recently ended a year long relationship with Monica's older brother, Ross (Schwimmer), who works at a museum as a paleontologist and has a young son Ben, from a previous marriage. Living across the hall from Monica and Rachel are roommates, Chandler Bing (Perry), and Joey Tribbiani (LeBlanc). Chandler is a lovable, wise guy who works as a corporate numbers cruncher. Joey is a struggling actor who is more passionate about life and loves himself. The last of the group is Monica's former roommate, Phoebe Buffay (Kudrow), an offbeat, extremely optimistic folk singer and massage therapist.
