PwC Summer Leadership Event 1 This week was the first event of PwC's summer leadership program in the Philadelphia office. The event began with all of the externs meeting in the office in the late afternoon hours. About 35 externs were present, and the schools represented were primarily those from the mid-Atlantic region. This was a welcome change for me, as I acquainted myself with several of the people that I could potentially be working with a few years down the road. After a brief presentation, guidebooks to the program were distributed. The books featured a brief biography of each extern, as well as a thumbnail sketch of what we should expect of the program. We then boarded buses to Jillian's, where the firm had rented out the entire bowling alley for a good portion of the night and had a buffet dinner setup for us. The firm broke us down into teams of six, and the smaller setting made it easier to meet others. In between eating dinner and bowling, I got to speak with several first-year employees at the firm, as well as getting to know some of the other externs. The event was designed to get to know one another in a casual setting, as the absence of managers and partners pointed to. The event was enjoyable in that I got to meet people with my interests in a social setting, as well as get a greater feel for the culture of the firm. I enjoyed the event, and am looking forward to the next one, which is still unknown to me. Next entry, "PwC Summer Leadership Event 2" |
