The people here [at Hasbro] are one of the main factors in my desire to come back.  The people that work at Hasbro, and in particular, the tax department, are very friendly and helpful people.  Even during the school year, before I even realized I was going to be coming back to Hasbro, I still kept in touch with some of the people I worked with last year.

Hasbro as a company tries to promote a friendly environment and a community feeling.  The company or the department is always sponsoring some sort of events to bring the people together outside of work.  For example, the tax department employees had the opportunity to go to a Pawtucket Red Sox game last week and sit in the box with the KPMG representatives [Hasbro's independent auditors].  This event costs nothing to the employee and is used to bring the department together.

Hasbro also sponsors a few trips to PawSox games during the summer as well.  Another event that helps bring people together is the annual company picnic and softball game.  The company changed this a little bit this year and is allowing the employees to bring family members to the cookout which features a day of free food and outdoor events.

While the company tries to promote a community atmosphere, office politics do play a part. It's evident that in some areas of the company there seem to be little cliques, often demonstrated by the lunch time tendencies.  Everybody seems to go their own way at lunch, leading to small groups of people always doing things together.  But come to think of it, cliques are a part of every organization--even PC.
