Dr. Matthew Guardino, assistant professor of political science, co-authored an article (with Dean Snyder of Syracuse University) entitled “The Tea Party and the Crisis of Neoliberalism: Mainstreaming New Right Populism in the Corporate News Media” that appeared in New Political Science’s special issue on “Right-Wing Populism and the Media” in December.

Dr. Laura Hauerwas, associate professor of education, Dr. Marcy Zipke, associate professor of education, and Amanda Murphy ’12 presented a paper entitled “The Language Knowledge Necessary to Teach Linguistically Diverse Students: Thoughts on Preparing Pre-Service Teachers” at the Northeastern Educational Research Association meeting in Rocky Hill, Conn., in October.

Dr. Kris Monahan, director of sponsored research & programs, presented two concurrent sessions entitled “Tales From Three Start-Up Sponsored Programs Offices” and “Mentoring: Making Meaning at Predominantly Undergraduate Institutions” at the 54th Annual National Council of University Research Administrator’s Conference in Washington D.C., in November.

Adrian Beaulieu, dean of the Center for International Studies, was appointed for a three-year term to the China Advisory Committee for the Alliance for Global Education.
