Enrolled Freshman Class of 2017

 The 1,030 freshmen represent continued academic excellence and extracurricular involvement.
 
  • Average grade point average of 3.37 on a 4.0 scale.

    Approximately 36% graduated from high school in the top 10% of their class, and 57% fell within the top 20%.

  • 14 valedictorians and 9 salutatorians; 13 National Merit finalists, semi-finalists, and commended students, and 404 members of the National Honor Society.

  • Average SAT score (middle 50% of the entire enrolled class) was 520-620 for the critical reading, 530-640 for math, and 530-640 for writing. The middle 50% range on the ACT for the entire enrolled class is 23-28.

  • Most popular majors are biology, marketing, management, finance,  accountancy, psychology, political science, and elementary/special education.

  • 239 participated in student government (30 were class or council presidents), 780 participatedin athletics (302 captains), 285 participated in theatre/music/art, 105 participated in newspaper/radio/yearbook/literary journal, and 740 took part in community service during high school.

  • 15.9% percent of the class is of African-American, Hispanic, Asian, or Native American (AHANA) descent.
