PC & Me

What is your favorite book?
The Autobiography of Malcolm X

Where is your favorite spot on campus?
The softball field on lower campus

Who is your favorite professor?
Dr. Joseph Cammarano of the political science department, who I had for Empirical Analysis, is the kind of professor anyone would love to have. Between his teaching and his work in the community, he has a well-deserved reputation for being an exceptionally devoted professor and person. His classroom environment is relaxed and informal, but some of the most challenging and engaging work I've done at PC took place there. I've never met a professor who was more patient with and genuinely interested in his students' work.

Although I did not even take a full semester with him, I have to include Professor Robert Deasy of the History department as well. It was largely his Constitution Day presentation my freshman year--at a time when I considered my studies in history finished--that renewed my passion for the subject. He had an unmatched ability to present even the driest of facts in an accessible, entertaining, and ultimately unforgettable manner. I only regret that I did not get to know him better before his retirement last spring.

What activitites do you participate in at PC?
President of PC Libertarians, class of 2010 representative, Student Congress, Debate Society, The Cowl, intramural sports

What is your best PC memory?
Model UN in Boston my freshman year--four days of hammering out resolutions in committee meetings and trekking around the city at its frigid, wintry best with some of the greatest people I've met here. Although it was certainly an intellectually rewarding experience, it was also easily the most fun I've had since coming to PC. Two years later, those of us who haven't graduated yet still talk and laugh about this trip.

Another great memory I have, is my first Saturday here as a freshman, when a bunch of new friends and I went to Waterfire downtown. I had really been looking forward to college and this kind of signaled "you're here, this is it" and I remember just being so excited about the next four years.
